Present Funding for Rigolet Shelter, Winter Transportation

Affairs Minister John Hickey, and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Patty
Pottle, present a cheque for $30,000 to Charlotte Wolfrey of the
Rigolet Partnership Against Family Violence for the establishment of
a shelter. Budget 2009 provides a further $60,000 to help make the
shelter a reality. Ministers Pottle and Hickey and Ms. Wolfrey were
joined by AngajukKak (mayor) for Rigolet, Daniel Michelin.

Affairs Minister John Hickey, and AngajukKak (mayor) for Rigolet,
Daniel Michelin, sign contracts for a new snowmobile trailer groomer
for the community. Minister Hickey and Aboriginal Affairs Minister
Patty Pottle presented Rigolet with $304,000 for the purchase of a
Piston Bully snowmobile trail groomer to maintain the trail between
Rigolet and Mulligan. Witnessing the signing were: Minister Pottle,
Darryl Shiwak, Nunatsiavut Minister of Education and Economic
Development, and Sarah Blake, town manager for Rigolet.

Provincial and Federal Governments Announce Important Infrastructure Investments

The Honourable Trevor Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Works (far right), along with the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister of the Atlantic Gateway, were joined today by the Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and Senator Fabian Manning to announce over $300 million in joint federal-provincial investments for key infrastructure projects throughout the province. Newfoundland and Labrador will contribute $175 million to the joint federal-provincial investments.
