Motorists in the Avalon region are advised of potential delays on the Pitts Memorial Drive bridge above Water Street starting Tuesday, September 3 and continuing until Thursday, September 19. At times, traffic will be reduced to one lane on Pitts Memorial Drive, Water Street and Southside Road. There will be no lane closures during high-volume periods of the day between 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

These delays are necessary for the safety of workers during routine inspections and maintenance of the province’s largest bridge. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds when approaching the area, follow signage and flag persons, and proceed with caution. Motorists are also advised to take alternate routes if possible.
