Motorists on the Avalon Peninsula are advised that beginning 7:30 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, May 24), work will begin to replace 14 culverts on Route 75, Veterans Memorial Highway.

A detour will be in place to ensure the safety of motorists and crews working on the highway and for work to be completed as quickly as possible.

Motorists will detour at the highway’s intersection with Route 70, Roaches Line, and Route 71, Hodgewater Line.

The detours will be in place each weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to lessen the impact on travel during times of heavier traffic. Detours may also be in place on weekends, as necessary. Updates will be provided on the department’s Twitter, @TW_GovNL .

Signs and traffic control measures will be in place to direct travellers. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the posted speed limits along the detours and to drive cautiously.
