Media Advisory: Minister Crocker to Tour New Strait of Belle Isle Ferry

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Transportation and Works, will tour the Labrador Marine ferry MV Qajaq W (pronounced kayak) tomorrow (Tuesday, January 22) beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Newdock Dockyard, 475 Water Street, St. John’s.

Minister Crocker will be joined by the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development and MHA for Cartwright – L’Anse au Clair, the Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment and MHA for Labrador West, Derrick Bragg, MHA for Fogo Islands – Cape Freels, and Peter Woodward, President and CEO, Labrador Marine Inc.

The ferry is set to begin servicing the Strait of Belle Isle later this month. The seven-year-old vessel, previously named MV Grete, has a capacity of 300 passengers, 120 passenger vehicles and eight tractor trailers.
