A new online service that provides registered electrical contractors with online applications is now available, providing a more efficient way to obtain electrical permits and annual contractor registration certificates. This is the latest in a series of initiatives under the Digital Way Forward that are improving the experiences that citizens, community groups and businesses have when accessing government services.
Access to the online applications is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.servicenl.gov.nl.ca/licenses/electrical/index.html. This service allows registered electrical contractors to:
- Complete and submit applications online through a user-friendly interface;
- Pay for the application online using a credit or debit card;
- Receive email confirmation of the receipt of the application and payment; and
- Receive certificates and permits electronically via email.
Electrical contractors will no longer have to visit a Government Service Centre location to submit applications, pay for and pick up their certificates and permits, saving valuable time. Paper applications will continue to be available. Other clients requiring services at a Government Service Centre should also expect reduced wait times as a result of this initiative.
All electrical contractors are encouraged to use this new service from their home, office computer, tablet or smartphone. An electrical contractor registration number and a valid email address is required to access the service.
This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
