Multi-Materials Stewardship Board Proclaims Waste Reduction Week
As the provincial partner of Waste Reduction Week in Canada, the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) is proclaiming Waste Reduction Week from October 21 to 27, 2019 in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Each day of Waste Reduction Week in Canada has its own theme: A Circular Economy; Textiles; Champions and Innovators; Plastics and Packaging; Food Waste; Swap, Share, Repair; and E-waste. MMSB will be supporting the overall message through a social media public awareness campaign highlighting provincial waste reduction initiatives on each theme day.
Individuals, businesses and schools throughout the province are also encouraged to proclaim October 21-27, 2019 as Waste Reduction Week in Canada and share how they are reducing and rethinking waste in Newfoundland and Labrador. For more information along with tips and educational tools about Waste Reduction Week, visit the links in the Learn More section below.
“Many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are already rethinking the way they manage their waste, and Waste Reduction Week presents an opportunity to share ideas and to learn about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.”
Honourable Derrick Bragg
Minister Responsible for the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board
“MMSB is committed to educating Newfoundlanders and Labradorians about the need to change how we manage our waste and to recognize the local initiatives. We are proud to support Waste Reduction Week by encouraging residents, businesses and schools to think of new ways to reduce our environmental footprint and create cleaner, healthier communities.”
