The Provincial Government is inviting applications for community infrastructure projects.

Municipalities, local service districts, engineering consultants, regional service boards and Inuit community governments, non-profit organizations and other eligible recipients can submit applications until September 30, 2019. Project approvals are anticipated to be determined by winter 2020. Links to information on the application process can be found in the Learn More section below.

On Friday, July 26, 2019, the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, joined the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, to announce 140 community infrastructure projects across the province. The projects have a total value of $123 million and included funding from the Provincial, Federal and local governments and organizations.

Budget 2019 allocated $129 million for municipal infrastructure that will benefit residents, help create jobs and encourage economic development.  This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.

“I’m pleased that we are able to call for applications so quickly after announcing 140 community infrastructure projects just a few days ago. When communities and organizations have the opportunity to respond to the call for applications earlier in the year, they are better able to plan long-term and to budget according to their needs. Industry will also benefit from the resulting earlier tendering calls, as companies will have more time to assess financial considerations and prepare for construction.”
