The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

St. Lewis River Atlantic Salmon Habitat Enhancement Project (Reg. 2032)
Proponent: Atlantic Rivers Outfitting Company

The proponent is proposing to create a pool and weir type of fishway on the main stem of the St. Lewis River at a falls located approximately 28 kilometres upstream from St. Lewis Sound in southern Labrador. The project is proposed to provide greater accessibility for Atlantic Salmon to a 32-kilometre section on the main stem of the river.

The undertaking was registered on July 8, 2019; the deadline for public comments is August 13, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by August 22, 2019.

Carmanville Amusement Park (Reg. 2033)
Proponent: Lloyd W Parsons

The proponent has submitted a proposal to develop an amusement park and campgrounds on a 33.9 hectare area of land in the Town of Carmanville. The project will include the construction of various recreation areas, cabins, tent sites and trailer lots. The proposed development is located on Noggin Cove Head Road.

The undertaking was registered on July 5, 2019; the deadline for public comments is August 13, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by August 19, 2019.

Dog Hills Quarry (Reg. 2034)
Proponent: Black Diamond Construction Ltd. 

The proponent is proposing to develop a 29.8 hectare gravel, rock and sand quarry located near Dog Hills, approximately 500 metres from the Foxtrap Access Road and TCH Interchange. The proposed site is within the City of St. John’s municipal boundary and is accessible from the existing Pasture Lands Road. Site development will involve vegetation clearing, grubbing and stockpiling of overburden. Quarry operations will include blasting, excavation, crushing, stockpiling, loading and transport of aggregates.

The undertaking was registered on July 8, 2019; the deadline for public comments is August 13, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by August 22, 2019.

Fermeuse Harbour Spool Base (Reg. 2035)
Proponent: Fermeuse Enterprises Limited 

The proponent is proposing to develop land along the north shore of Fermeuse Harbour for the construction and operation of a Spool Base. The project will service the offshore oil and gas industry by providing advanced welding and other technologies to assemble rigid pipes for spooling onto reel lay vessels.

The undertaking was registered on July 8, 2019; the deadline for public comments is August 13, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by August 22, 2019.
