The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

West Bottom Brook Bridge Replacement (Reg. 2012)
Proponent: Department of Transportation and Works

The proponent is proposing to replace the deteriorated bridge on West Bottom Brook located on the Trans-Canada Highway, approximately four kilometres west of South Brook. A temporary panel bridge and paved bypass will be constructed within the current right-of-way. The existing bridge will be closed, demolished and removed such that no significant debris enters the river. The new replacement bridge will measure 43 metres in length x 14 metres in width and be constructed along the same horizontal alignment and is designed to withstand a minimum of 1:100 year flood events. The temporary bridge will be removed once the new bridge is open to traffic.

The undertaking was registered on April 8, 2019; the deadline for public comments is May 16, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by May 23, 2019.

Indian River RV Park (Reg. 2013)
Proponent: JSR Holdings Inc.

The proponent is proposing to develop and operate an RV park at the location of a former camping park along Indian River near Springdale Junction. The proposal includes infrastructure upgrades and new construction, such as an office building and convenience store; access roads; 108 campsites; a septic treatment plant and system installations; comfort stations; water supply wells; playground and beach areas; and hiking trails. Water and electrical services have been installed to the RV campsites. The park will also include an additional 100 campsites, access roads, an equipment laydown area and installation of infrastructure to supply services to these sites.

The undertaking was registered on April 9, 2019; the deadline for public comments is May 16, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by May 24, 2019.

South Brook Cottage (Reg. 2014)
Proponent: David Anstey

The proponent proposes to construct a cottage on South Brook, Halls Bay, in central Newfoundland. The cottage will be located on the western side of South Brook with access from Warrs Road. The cottage will be 6.0 metres by 7.3 metres size and will be located approximately 1.5 kilometres from Warrs Road.

The undertaking was registered on April 10, 2019; the deadline for public comments is May 16, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by May 25, 2019.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Albert Lake Cabin Access Road (Reg. 2001)
Proponent: Mike Robertson

The project is released subject to the following condition:

  • The proponent must maintain a minimum 30-metre naturally vegetated buffer along all waterbodies and wetlands to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.
