The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Deer Lake Marina (Reg. 2004)
Proponent: Town of Deer Lake

The proponent proposes to develop a marina for recreational boating in Deer Lake. The marina will include a floating breakwater, launchway, floating dock with 40 berths and a building for the storage of boats. The marina is located parallel to the Trans Canada Highway near the northern boundary of the community of St. Jude’s and the southern boundary of the Town of Deer Lake.

The undertaking was registered on March 11, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 18, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 25, 2019.

Humber Valley Farm Development (Reg. 2005)
Proponent: Pasadena Equipment Services Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to establish a 300-hectare farm for root crops on the northern side of the Lower Humber River between Steady Brook and Humber Village. Site access will be from the proponent’s adjacent farm area. The construction phase will include land clearing, draining and ditching to create suitable soil for growing vegetables and cold crops. The operation phase will include regular application of limestone and fertilizer, seeding, and harvesting crops.

The undertaking was registered on March 13, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 18, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 27, 2019.

Baie Verte Microbrewery (Reg. 2006)
Proponent: Saltbox Brewhouse Inc.

The proponent is planning to establish and operate a microbrewery within an existing building located at Civic Number 81, Highway 410, in the Town of Baie Verte. The brewery plans to produce approximately 600 hectolitres of beer annually and to operate year-round.

The undertaking was registered on March 13, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 18, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 27, 2019.

REVISED ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT SUBMITTED:

Health Sciences Centre Berm (Reg. 1887)
Proponent: Eastern Health

The proponent has submitted the revised environmental preview report (EPR) for the above undertaking as required by the minister. The EPR is available on the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment website at: www.mae.gov.nl.ca/env_assessment/projects/Y2017/1887. Public comments regarding the revised EPR are welcome and must be received by April 18, 2019. Public comments may be emailed to EAProjectComments@gov.nl.ca, or they may be mailed to the address below. The minister’s decision on the EPR is due by April 28, 2019.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT GUIDELINES ISSUED:

Cape Freels South Walking Trail (Reg. 1991)
Proponent: Cape Freels Heritage Trust Inc.

The minister has approved the final guidelines for the preparation of the environmental preview report (EPR) for the Cape Freels South Walking Trail. The EPR guidelines identify the information that the proponent will be required to include in the EPR. The EPR guidelines document is available on the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment website at: www.mae.gov.nl.ca/env_assessment/projects/Y2018/1991.
