The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Cavendish Beef Farm (Reg. 2002)
Proponent: Viking Fur Inc.

The proponent is proposing to establish a beef cattle industry near Cavendish, Trinity Bay. The initial herd size will be 26 animals with an eventual expansion to 100. This operation will be complementary to the proponent’s existing mink farm operations, but will also require an additional 117 hectares of Crown land. Development will consist of clearing, seeding and fertilizing land for grazing and forage production.

The undertaking was registered on February 28, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 10, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 14, 2019.

Deer Lake Microbrewery (Reg. 2003)
Proponent: Rough Waters Brewing Company Ltd.

The proponent is planning to establish and operate a microbrewery within an existing building located at 83 Wight’s Road in the Town of Deer Lake. The brewery plans to produce 4.5 hectolitres (450 litres) of beer annually and to operate year-round.

The undertaking was registered on March 4, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 10, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 18, 2019.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT GUIDELINES ISSUED:

Victoria Multi-Purpose Trail (Reg. 1985)
Proponent: Town of Victoria

The minister has approved the final guidelines for the preparation of the environmental preview report (EPR) for the Victoria Multi-Purpose Trail. The EPR guidelines identify the information that the proponent will be required to include in the EPR. The EPR guidelines document is available on the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment website at: www.mae.gov.nl.ca/env_assessment/projects/Y2018/1985
