The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Terrenceville Sand and Gravel Quarry (Reg. 1997)
Proponent: Hickey’s Contracting (1989) Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to construct and operate a five-hectare quarry located approximately 1.5 kilometers north of Route 210 (Burin Peninsula Highway) and Route 211 (Terrenceville-Grand Le Pierre) intersection. Site access will be via a new access road or through the existing access via the Transportation and Works Depot. Construction will involve clearing, grubbing and quarry development. Operations will include excavating, screening, stockpiling and transporting aggregate materials. No drilling, blasting or crushing operations will be conducted.

The undertaking was registered on January 30, 2019; the deadline for public comments is March 7, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by March 16, 2019.

Hickey’s Piper’s Hole Quarries (Reg. 1998)
Proponent: Hickey’s Contracting (1989) Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to construct and operate two quarries located approximately 6.8 kilometres (straight line) northwest from the community of Swift Current, south of Route 210 (Burin Peninsula Highway) and west of the Piper’s Hole River. One quarry will be 3.3 hectares and the other will be 0.53 hectares. Construction will involve clearing, grubbing and quarry development. Operations will include excavating, screening, stockpiling and transporting aggregate materials. No drilling and blasting will be conducted and no crushing operations are required.

The undertaking was registered on January 30, 2019; the deadline for public comments is March 7, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by March 16, 2019.
