Public Advisory: Adverse Weather Conditions Anticipated

January 4, 2019

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment is monitoring forecast information on a weather system that is anticipated to bring significant precipitation across the island portion of the province. The potential for warmer temperatures and rainfall may cause snow melt in areas which have been impacted by heavy snowfall this week.

Municipalities and local service districts are asked to review their emergency management plans and should ensure that infrastructure such as roads, ditches and drains are clear of debris and appropriate provisions are made for the delivery of services during anticipated weather events.

While crews with the Department of Transportation and Works will be clearing snow from provincial roads and highways, motorists are reminded to slow down, drive to conditions, and visit www.roads.gov.nl.ca for road condition reports, live highway cameras and to use the Provincial Plow Tracker tool.
