The House of Assembly advises that at the close of nominations today (4:30 p.m.), notices of intent for election to the Office of Speaker were received from the following Members:

• Scott Reid, MHA, St. George’s-Humber
• Perry Trimper, MHA, Lake Melville

The election of Speaker will be the first order of business when the House of Assembly resumes for the Fall sitting on Monday, November 4 at 1:30 p.m. The process for electing a Speaker is outlined in Chapter 2 (SO 2 through SO 4) of the Standing Orders (www.assembly.nl.ca/HouseBusiness/StandingOrders/).
