The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, is congratulating the Central and Western Regional Health Authorities on receiving national awards from the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL), for their delivery of value-based health care for seniors in long-term care.

In conjunction with the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health, Central and Western Health have both implemented quality improvement initiatives to optimize the care of long-term care residents who are non-insulin dependent diabetics.

The awards will be presented at the CCHL’s National Health Leadership Conference on June 9 in Toronto.

Initiatives such as these undertaken by Central and Western Health deliver on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
