  • Fisheries and Land Resources

September 19, 2019

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources has been made aware of alleged threats to the physical safety of domestic and commercial harvesters in the Southwest River Valley, near Port Blandford. The alleged threats were made on social media by individuals possibly attempting to thwart forest harvesting activity in the area. The RCMP have been notified.

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources is advising the general public, including domestic and commercial harvesters, to consider refraining from harvesting in this particular area until there is more information related to the potential criminality surrounding these alleged threats.

Extreme caution should be exercised if harvesting is pursued.
