The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, will announce the winners of the International Year of the Salmon Fly Competition tomorrow (Thursday, July 11). The event will take place at the Salmonid Interpretation Centre, 100 Taylor Road, Grand Falls-Windsor at 11:30 a.m. to help launch the 35th annual Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.
Minister Byrne will be joined by the International Year of the Salmon Fly Competition judging panel, consisting of fly-tying enthusiasts from across the province; and Tyrone Buckle, representing competition sponsor Loop Tackle.
The fly competition consists of two streams: Angler’s Choice, to name the province’s favourite existing fly design; and Designer’s Choice, to select the province’s best original salmon fly design.
