Public Advisory: Voting Now Open for Angler’s Choice Salmon Fly Competition

  • Fisheries and Land Resources

April 2, 2019

Voting for the Angler’s Choice stream of the International Year of the Salmon Fly Competition is now open. A panel of some of the province’s finest fly-tying enthusiasts has compiled a shortlist of the most commonly used salmon flies on Newfoundland and Labrador’s rivers. The design that lands the most votes will be designated Newfoundland and Labrador’s Salmon Fly. The winning fly will be announced May 1.

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources is hosting the provincial fly competition as part of International Year of the Salmon celebrations in Newfoundland and Labrador. A second competition stream, Designer’s Choice, is currently ongoing and open to fly tiers to create an original fly design.
