Date Set for Judicial Recount in Labrador West

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Chief Electoral Officer, Bruce Chaulk, confirmed today that the date has been set for the judicial recount in the electoral district of Labrador West.

The recount will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the Supreme Court in St. John’s.

According to the Elections Act, 1991, an election that results in a difference of 10 votes or less must have a judicial recount. The election in Labrador West resulted in a difference of only five votes between Jordan Brown of the New Democratic Party and Graham Letto of the Liberal Party. According to the official count, Jordan Brown had 1,366 votes and Graham Letto had 1,361 votes.
