Special Ballot Voting Now Available

Electors can now cast a ballot in the 2019 General Election. Special Ballot voting began yesterday (April 25) after the release of the list of official candidates.

In order to vote by Special Ballot, an individual must complete an application and provide identification that shows the applicant’s name and current address. After the application is approved, a Special Ballot kit will be issued. The deadline to apply for a Special Ballot is Thursday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m.

Special Ballot applications are available:

  • on Elections NL’s website
  • at any of the 40 district Returning Offices
  • at any of the 21 Special Ballot offices throughout the province
  • at Elections NL’s Special Ballot headquarters (35 Hallett Crescent in St. John’s)

Special Ballot voting offers the opportunity to vote prior to the Advance Polls and Election Day. Any person who is 18 years of age or older by May 16 (Election Day), a Canadian Citizen and a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador can apply to vote by Special Ballot.
