Mr. Bruce Chaulk, Chief Electoral Officer of Newfoundland and Labrador, issued election writs to all 40 district Returning Officers this evening. The general election will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

The following key dates apply to this election:

• Election Day – Thursday, May 16. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
• Advance Poll – Thursday, May 9. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
• Deadline for Candidate Nominations – Thursday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m.

All times listed above are half an hour earlier in most of Labrador.

Electors are encouraged to visit the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website (www.elections.gov.nl.ca) for information pertaining to voting qualifications, Election Day voting locations, Advance Poll locations, Special Ballot voting, and more.
