Polls closed this evening (January 17) at 8:00 p.m. for the first day of Advance Poll voting in the Topsail – Paradise by-election. Votes were cast at five polls in two locations: Octagon Pond Elementary School in Paradise and Lodge Conception Masonic Hall in Chamberlains. The preliminary total of votes cast is as follows:

A second day of Advance Voting will take place on Saturday, January 19 at the same locations as today. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
By-election day is Thursday, January 24. To find out where to vote, registered electors are encouraged to reference the yellow Voter Information Cards distributed in the mail this week by Elections Newfoundland and Labrador. Voting locations may also be obtained by calling the district Returning Office at 781-7807, calling Elections Newfoundland and Labrador at 729-7987 or visiting the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website: www.elections.gov.nl.ca.
