Office of the Chief Electoral Officer – Voter Information Cards in the Mail for the Topsail – Paradise By-Election

  • Office of the Chief Electoral Officer

January 10, 2019

Elections Newfoundland and Labrador is asking registered electors in the district of Topsail – Paradise to watch their mail for Voter Information Cards, which are being circulated this week.

Every person who is on the Topsail – Paradise voters list will receive a card, outlining personalized voting information, such as:

  • where and when to vote at the advance and regular polls;
  • details about Special Ballot voting; and
  • contact information for the district Returning Office and Elections Newfoundland and Labrador’s headquarters.

Electors are encouraged to bring their Voter Information Cards with them when they vote. Being on the voters list and having a Voter Information Card brings benefits to electors, such as reducing time in line-ups and the need for additional paperwork at the polls.

The deadline to be added to the voters list is 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19. Those who are qualified but not on the voters list can still vote on the advance polling days or on by-election day, but identification will be required and an oath will have to be administered at the polls.

Anyone who does not receive a Voter Information Card can find out where to vote by:

  • visiting the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website (elections.gov.nl.ca);
  • calling Elections NL’s headquarters at 729-7987; or,
  • calling the Topsail – Paradise Returning Office at 781-7807
