Students to Explore Post-Secondary Options through Travel Program

  • Education and Early Childhood Development

December 18, 2019

Students from schools throughout the province will have the opportunity to explore post-secondary options outside their home communities.

The Intra-Provincial Travel Program allows students to visit facilities and take part in campus tours and information sessions at various post-secondary institutions. The program enables them to make more informed decisions about their future and helps them become familiar with post-secondary institutions and the larger communities in which they are located.

This year, funding has been provided to the following schools:

  • Victoria Academy (Gaultois)
  • Copper Ridge Academy (Baie Verte)
  • Fatima Academy (Saint Bride’s)
  • Christ the King School (Baine Harbour)
  • Laval High School, (Placentia) and
  • Fortune Bay Academy  (St. Bernard’s)

Each year, schools can apply for funding for school organized trips. Information about the Intra-Provincial Travel Program, including the application form, can be found here. The deadline for applying is November 30 of each calendar year.

Quote
“Exploring post-secondary options is an integral part of the high school curriculum in Newfoundland and Labrador. Exposure to our post-secondary institutions and other educational facilities will not only inspire these young people to pursue post-secondary education, but give them a level of comfort around living away from home while attending school.”

Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development
