Provincial Government Provides Opportunities for Students to Explore French Immersion

November 27, 2019

The Honourable Brian Warr, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, is encouraging teachers and administrators to apply for grants for school organized trips to Québec, francophone communities in New Brunswick and to Saint Pierre et Miquelon. The application deadline is December 20, 2019.

An investment of $300,000 through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Agreement on Minority-Language Education and Second Official-Language Instruction, provides intermediate and high school students the opportunity to discover French culture, while improving their French language skills.

Each year, more than 25 schools are awarded grants for French immersion school organized trips. Information about grants, including the application form, can be found here .

Providing opportunities for students and teachers to explore French language programs delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to provide better services and outcomes for residents. More Information about French-immersion programs, bursaries and fellowships can be found here.
