Celebrating International Education Week

  • Education and Early Childhood Development

November 20, 2019

November 18 – 22 is International Education Week, celebrated by more than 100 countries worldwide. Through a variety of activities and events, both secondary and post-secondary students are taking the opportunity to exchange language, culture, and ideas and to celebrate these exchanges.

International Education Week has been celebrated since 2000, showcasing the impact that international education has in preparing students for the world.

Through the implementation of the Education Action Plan, a K-12 multicultural education framework is being developed to address the needs of multicultural students and ensure that all students learn about the many cultures of the world and the value of diversity.

Quotes
“The number of international students in our province has increased significantly in the past 10 years, and their contribution to our social, cultural, and economic success is immeasurable. When we work together, we all learn about the value of diversity and we all benefit.”
Honourable Brian Warr
Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development

“Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic are welcoming ever-increasing numbers of international students to our province. In addition to acquiring a world-class post-secondary education, many of these international students choose to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador to work and start businesses. Their contributions to our province’s society, culture and economy are significant.”
