Provincial Government Supports Professional Learning for Early Childhood Educators

As part of efforts to enhance the quality of child care and early learning, new professional learning opportunities will be rolled out for the province’s Early Childhood Educators.

The Provincial Government is providing $75,000 to the Association of Early Childhood Educators NL for the development and delivery of the professional learning which will be focused on the newly released “Navigating the Early Years – An Early Learning Framework” and will include webinars, mentoring and support in all regions of the province.

The framework is an overarching document that outlines an approach to children’s early learning, with a specific emphasis on play-based learning, the important role of Early Childhood Educators in supporting children’s development and learning, and inclusion of children with exceptionalities.

“Early childhood is a time of rapid growth and development and we have worked closely with AECENL, and other partners, on the development of the Early Learning Framework. The framework and professional development will provide Early Childhood Educators with a resource to support and enhance effective and quality educational programming in the child care setting.”
Honourable Brian Warr
Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development

“The Association of Early Childhood Educators NL is excited to provide orientation of the new provincial Early Childhood Learning Framework to those working in the early learning and child care field. Early Childhood Educators play a critical role in a child’s development. The framework and upcoming professional learning opportunities support the association’s focus on best practices and quality early learning for children.”
