The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will participate in the opening ceremonies for team sports in the 2019 Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games in Grand Falls-Windsor, tomorrow (Friday, March 1).

The opening ceremonies will take place at the Windsor Pentecostal Church and School Complex, 97 King Street, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Minister Hawkins will be joined by Derek Bennett, MHA for Lewisporte – Twillingate, Brian Warr, MHA for Baie Verte – Green Bay, and Jerry Dean, MHA for Exploits.

The 2019 Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games will welcome more than 250 athletes and coaches participating in team sports events. Individual sports events were held February 22–24.
