Media Advisory: Minister Dempster to Attend Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Meetings in Halifax

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, and Newfoundland and Labrador representative on the National Steering Committee of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians will attend the organization’s Outreach Program and the 57th Canadian Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 12-15.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association exists to develop, promote and support parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to implement the enduring values of the Commonwealth.

Created in 2005, the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians-Canadian Region is composed of women parliamentarians of the provincial and territorial Canadian legislatures and the federal parliament. Its mission is to assist Canadian women and girls to discover their political potential, experience the fulfillment of a career in public service and create a better society.
