Provincial Government Announces Community Healthy Living Fund and Opens Application Process for 2019-20

In Budget 2019, the Provincial Government is investing $1.79 million for the Community Healthy Living Fund, which provides funding to communities and community-based organizations to support healthy eating and physical activity initiatives and programs throughout the province.

Applications for the Community Healthy Living Fund are now being accepted on an ongoing basis up to January 31, 2020. Funding is based on eligibility criteria and falls under the categories of Capacity Building, Programs and Supportive Environments. Available funding is for initiatives aimed at increasing physical activity and increasing the rate of vegetable and fruit consumption.

The Community Healthy Living Fund provided funding to over 300 community groups and organizations, supporting more than 500 projects and initiatives in 2018-19.

The Community Healthy Living Fund contributes to achieving commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents by reaching established targets to increase physical activity, to increase vegetable and fruit consumption rates and to decrease obesity rates.
