The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, has announced that five projects will receive Community Transportation Grants totalling $300,000. A full list of the selected projects and the funding they will receive can be found in the backgrounder below.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Grant Program, which was announced in February 2019, provides funding support to develop, implement and evaluate a community-based transportation program that is inclusive and accessible.
The five projects that will receive funding will enhance and expand community transportation services to increase inclusion and accessibility for people who experience barriers to transportation, including age, disability, geography or income.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program builds on commitments of The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
