Derek Bennett, Parliamentary Secretary for Children, Seniors and Social Development, announced that the Town of Bay Roberts will receive $200,000 in operating funding from the Provincial Government to support planning and preparation for the 2020 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Games is a week-long, provincial, multi-sport event which alternates between winter and summer Games every two years. The 2020 Summer Games were awarded to Bay Roberts in March 2018.
The Games are delivered in partnership with the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development, Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, a host community organizing committee and provincial sport organizations.
Supporting the 2020 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
