The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, today announced that approximately $115 million in core funding the Provincial Government currently provides to community groups will be maintained for the next fiscal year.

Minister Dempster also provided an update on the multi-year approach to community grant funding. In April 2018, the Provincial Government delivered on its commitment to develop a strategic one-window, multi-year approach to community grant funding. The first phase includes 22 community organizations totaling approximately $18 million annually over three years.

This year marks the first year that community organizations in receipt of multi-year funding will not have to submit an application to government to receive these funds. As year two approaches, the Provincial Government is committed to continuing to work with community organizations in developing an evaluation framework. The year three evaluation of the multi-year approach will inform a transparent process in further expansion of multi-year funding.

Community groups in our province provide important and valuable programs and services in a variety of areas to meet social, wellness, cultural and other citizen and community needs. Our government is successfully delivering on The Way Forward commitment to implement phase one of a multi-year approach for community grant funding. We look forward to working collaboratively with community organizations to develop an evaluation framework that will help inform the next phase.”
