Minister Congratulates New President of Memorial University of Newfoundland

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today congratulated Dr. Vianne Timmons on her appointment as the 13th president and vice-chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland.

The announcement of Dr. Timmons, Memorial’s first female president, was made by Iris Petten, Chair of the Board of Regents and chair of the university’s Presidential Search Committee.

The appointment was recommended by the Presidential Search Committee and its members, which included representatives of the university’s board, faculty, students, administration, and the community at large. The appointment was approved by the university’s Board of Regents.
