Applications Now Being Accepted for Digital Skills for Youth Program

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skill and Labour is inviting employers to submit an application for the Digital Skills for Youth Program, which connects youth who are post-secondary graduates with training and employment related to digital skills.

A wage subsidy of 50 percent is provided to for-profit employers while not-for-profit organizations receive a wage subsidy of 75 percent along with funds to support training for the intern. Activities may include software and video game development, coding and app development, website development and other digital activities. Participants gain new or enhanced digital skills, knowledge and work experience they need to make a successful transition to the labour market.

More information about the Digital Skills for Youth program and the application process can be found online at www.aesl.gov.nl.ca/foremployers/digital_skills_for_youth.html. Applications will be accepted up to noon, September 26, 2019.

This year, $300,000 in funding is being provided from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada as part of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
