The Provincial Government continues to support job creation and economic growth through the Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) program.

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced that to date this fiscal year, 220 projects employing 1,300 people have been approved, totaling more than $10 million.

Minister Davis, joined by the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry, and Innovation, made the announcement at the French Rooms Cultural Center in Port au Choix. The center has received just over $64,000 for two Job Creation Partnerships projects to renovate and operate a French bread oven popular with locals and visitors alike. The oven enables the center to provide visitors with culinary experiences such as baking their own traditional French bread. The funding also allows the center to extend its bread-making season by an additional week.

Funded through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement, the Job Creation Partnerships program supports projects that benefit workers and their entire communities. More information about the Job Creation Partnership program, including the application form for employers, can be found at www.aesl.gov.nl.ca/lmda/jcp.html.

In 2018-19, more than 1,450 individuals participated in the Job Creation Partnerships program through projects delivered by over 270 organizations.
