The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced the appointment of Sam Synard as a member and Vice Chair of the Income and Employment Support Appeal Board. Mr. Synard’s bio can be found in the backgrounder below.
The Income and Employment Support Appeal Board is an independent, arms-length body authorized to hear appeals on decisions regarding income support, as well as eligibility for employment supports funded by the Provincial Government and those funded through the Workforce Development Agreement for persons with disabilities. The board may also hear appeals with respect to eligibility under the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program.
This appointment was recommended though the merit-based Independent Appointments Commission. Members of the public interested in opportunities to serve on provincial agencies, boards and commissions are encouraged to complete an application at www.iacnl.ca .

Biography of Sam Synard
Sam Synard has been an active volunteer and community organizer for over 25 years. He has served on numerous national and provincial boards, and has been active on municipal council since 1989. Mr. Synard is a graduate of Memorial University and has a Master’s degree from the University of New Brunswick.
