Public Advisory: Employment and Training Services Available to Former Employees of Black Duck Cove Fish Processing Plant

Workers impacted by the fire at the Black Duck Cove Fish Processing Plant are advised that employment and training services are readily available at Advanced Education, Skills and Labour Employment Centres throughout the province.

The department has been working with the Departments of Fisheries and Land Resources, Municipal Affairs and Environment, and Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation and with Service Canada, to develop an approach to assist workers.

In addition to services provided at all employment centres, Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, in collaboration with Service Canada, will host two information sessions in Black Duck Cove at the Anglican Parish Hall tomorrow (Thursday, May 23). The first will run from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the second taking place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Advanced Education, Skills and Labour offers a range of services that can be tailored to assist individuals including career counselling, job search assistance, employment and training supports, and access to localized labour market information.
