Minister Davis Hosts Fourth Minister’s Roundtable on Immigration

In Corner Brook today, the Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, hosted the fourth Minister’s Roundtable on Immigration.

The roundtable brings together representatives of various sectors including the business community, labour, K-12 education system, post-secondary institutions, municipalities, community organizations and service providers. It serves as a forum for discussion and collaboration as members combine efforts to find innovative ways to recruit and retain more newcomers.

Members discussed The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador’s actions from 2018-19 as well as upcoming actions for 2019-20. Members also discussed the new International Graduate Entrepreneur and International Entrepreneur immigration categories under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program. Guest speakers detailed immigration programs available to employers and shared the experiences of newcomers to the province’s west coast.

The Minister’s Roundtable on Immigration delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at

"Newfoundland and Labrador is welcoming a record number of newcomers through the hard work of our partners, including employers, post-secondary institutions, and service providers. Immigration will play a key role in our province’s social, cultural and economic growth. I commend the members of the Minister’s Roundtable on Immigration for their dedication to helping our province build an even more prosperous future.”
