March 17-23 is Multiculturalism Week in Newfoundland and Labrador, celebrating the province’s rich diversity of cultures and welcoming communities.
As part of the celebrations, many organizations and communities hold a variety of events such as meet-and-greets and intercultural exchanges.
To celebrate the 20th annual Sharing Our Cultures event, the Provincial Government provided funding to expand the celebration to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook in addition to the traditional festivities at The Rooms in St. John’s. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Multiculturalism Week coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21.
Multiculturalism Week events deliver on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca/.
