Provincial Government Invites Applications for Summer Student Employment Programs

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced applications are now being accepted for Summer Student Employment Programs (SSEP).

SSEP applications may be made online at and must be received by March 28, 2019.

The Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour will also partner again this year with the Community Sector Council NL to deliver AMPLIFY (Assisting My Potential - Labour Market Initiative for Youth). Launched as a pilot program in 2017, AMPLIFY helps youth gain work experience and participate in career development and personal growth activities.

These initiatives deliver on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at

“Summer jobs are often the first work experience for students in Newfoundland and Labrador. They are a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills and connections, increasing their employability right here at home. Inviting applications earlier than ever before gives employers time to assess their needs and apply.”
Honourable Bernard Davis
Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour

“AMPLIFY is a wonderful innovative summer program which offers young people a chance to spread their wings. Combining career development with work experience is a terrific opportunity for personal growth and building networks. The Community Sector Council NL is delighted to partner with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador along with many dedicated community organizations and private employers.”
Penelope M. Rowe
Chief Executive Officer, Community Sector Council NL
