Minister Davis Acknowledges Lunar New Year

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, offers best wishes to all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians celebrating Lunar New Year.

Lunar New Year is also known as Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival in various cultures. Traditionally, it is a joyous time of family reunions, complete with great food and fun, and hope for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead.

This year, Lunar New Year begins on Tuesday, February 5, and lasts 15 days.

To recognize and celebrate the diversity of the province’s residents, the Provincial Government acknowledges cultural holidays and events, a key commitment in The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador.

This collaborative, partnership-driven immigration action plan delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
