The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who celebrate the anniversary a Happy Republic Day of India.
Republic Day commemorates the January 26, 1930, Declaration of Indian Independence. On the same date in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect, completing the country’s transition to an independent republic.
To recognize and celebrate the diversity of the province’s residents, the Provincial Government acknowledges cultural holidays and events, a key commitment in The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This collaborative, partnership-driven immigration action plan delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
