The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has awarded a contract to complete upgrades to the roof and air handling system at the Gander Arts and Culture Centre swimming pool. The contract for the upgrades has been awarded to LSG Construction and is valued at $909,000 plus HST.
The upgraded air handling system is designed to manage humidity generated by the pool more effectively. This will reduce the chances of any future deterioration caused by excessive air moisture and result in a more comfortable environment for those using the facility.
The Department of Transportation and Works has worked with the operators of the facility, the Town of Gander and the local swim community to schedule the upgrades to coincide with regular scheduled pool maintenance during July and August 2019. Regularly scheduled pool operations will proceed as normal until the work begins.
