Provincial Government Appoints New Representative to the WorkplaceNL Board of Directors

The Provincial Government has appointed Wayde Rowsell as a worker representative to the WorkplaceNL Board of Directors. The appointment was made through the merit-based appointment process established by the Independent Appointments Commission Act and is effective immediately.

Mr. Rowsell’s appointment is for a three-year term. His biography is provided in the backgrounder below.

Serving approximately 13,000 injured workers and 19,000 employers, WorkplaceNL administers an employer-funded, no-fault insurance system that promotes safe and healthy workplaces, provides return-to-work programs and offers fair compensation to injured workers and their dependents.

Biographical Information

Wayde Rowsell
Wayde Rowsell worked for many years as laboratory technologist with Eastern Health, providing quality care as a member of a health care team. He also served as a board representative for eight years on the Newfoundland Association of Public Employees Health and Insurance Committee. Mr. Rowsell has also had an extensive career in municipal politics, serving as the Mayor of the Town of St. Lawrence from 1993 to 2013.
