The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Exploits River (Bishop’s Falls South Side) Cottage Development (Reg. 1990)
Proponent: Alex Cooke

The proponent proposes to develop 21 waterfront cottage lots on the south side of the Exploits River across from the Town of Bishop’s Falls. The nine hectare cottage lot development is to be located between the forest access road just west of the dam at the Bishop’s Falls generating plant and the Bishop’s Falls trestle where it crosses the Exploits River. The cottage development can be accessed by a 750 metre road from the Bay D’Espoir Highway located approximately 2.2 kilometres south of the intersection with the Trans Canada Highway.

The undertaking was registered on November 8, 2018; the deadline for public comments is December 14, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by December 23, 2018.

APPEAL OF MINISTER’S DECISION:

Indian Head Hatchery Expansion Project (Reg. 1975)
Proponent: Northern Harvest Smolt Ltd.

The above undertaking was released from further environmental assessment on September 4, 2018. On November 5, 2018, the minister received an appeal of that decision under section 107 of the Environmental Protection Act.
