The Provincial Government is in the process of notifying not-for-profit organizations and local governments who applied to sponsor projects that they have been approved for funding under the Community Enhancement Employment Program. The early-roll out of this program will provide timely opportunities to residents to develop new skills and improve communities.
The Community Enhancement Employment Program provides up to $4.9 million in funding to eligible sponsors, including towns, Inuit Community Governments, regional municipalities, local service districts, community and economic development organizations, and other non-profit organizations. Individuals can be employed for up to 400 hours in order to become eligible for employment insurance benefits.
This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.

“Because of the efforts of those working in the department, letters of approval for this program are being sent out earlier than they have in the past decade. I would like to thank the team for their invaluable work, which will ultimately benefit so many communities across the province.”
