The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Victoria Multi-Purpose Trail                                                                   (Reg. 1985)
Proponent: Town of Victoria

The proponent proposes to develop a multi-purpose trail for hiking and ATV/snowmobile use in the Spout Brook area in the east end of the Town of Victoria, Conception Bay. The trail will be developed along a one kilometre section of the former railway track and will provide connection to other developed trails along the North Shore. Work will be conducted by volunteers and will require brush clearing with some tree stump and rock removal.

The undertaking was registered on September 25, 2018; the deadline for public comments is November 1, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by November 9, 2018.

APPEAL OF MINISTER’S DECISION:

Indian Head Hatchery Expansion Project                                         (Reg. 1975)
Proponent: Northern Harvest Smolt Ltd.

The above undertaking was released from further environmental assessment on September 4, 2018. On September 20, 2018, the minister received an appeal of that decision under section 107 of the Environmental Protection Act. The appeal document can be viewed on the department’s website at: www.mae.gov.nl.ca/env_assessment/projects/Y2018/1975/.
