The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Moose Pond (Gallants) Quarry (Reg.1980)
Proponent: Humber Arm Contracting Inc.

The proponent proposes to develop a 15 hectare sand and gravel quarry approximately 2.5 kilometres southeast of Gallants, near Moose Pond, in the western region. The quarry will have an annual production of approximately 6,000 cubic metres per year.

The undertaking was registered on August 20, 2018; the deadline for public comments is September 28, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by October 4, 2018.

Emerald Vale Quarry (Reg. 1979)
Proponent: Cabot Ready Mix Limited

The proponent is proposing to develop a two hectare rock and sand quarry between Dawes Road and Mill Road in the Town of South River. The quarry will be accessed from an existing quarry nearby. The construction will include harvesting timber and grubbing, with all topsoil being stock-piled for site restoration. The operations will include excavation and screening on site. All processed materials will be transported to the existing Cabot Ready Mix facility located near the Manuels Access Road, Trans Canada Highway overpass where all crushing and washing activities will be carried out.

The undertaking was registered on August 20, 2018; the deadline for public comments is September 28, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by October 4, 2018.
