Funding Announced for Fire Truck in Heart’s Content

Today, the Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment was joined by the Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Transportation and Works and MHA for Carbonear-Trinity-Bay de Verde, to announce funding for a new fire truck for the Town of Heart’s Content. The ministers were joined by Fred Cumby, Mayor of Heart’s Content, and representatives of the Heart’s Content Volunteer Fire Brigade.

The new tanker truck will be cost-shared with the Provincial Government funding 80 per cent ($228,000) and the municipality funding 20 percent ($57,000) of the total. The total cost of the truck is $285,000.

Budget 2018 includes an investment of $1.88 million for the replacement of fire protection vehicles and firefighting equipment program for 2018-19. This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents.
